I had a budget gaff purchased from Amazon that was basically useless. I really did not want to get an expensive gaff yet since we are really only catching fish under 100 pounds, but I did want something decent. This gaff seems strong and the point is sharp. The spring mechanism to shield the hook point seems good as well. Time could change this review but for now I am pleased. I have brought some good sized blackfin tuna on the boat so far without issue.
