Purchased a set of these for my son a year or so ago. They got lost in transit in an airport returning from the John Muir Trail so I purchased another set here. These are lightweight...like carbon poles but the 7075 aluminum that these are made from is more durable than carbon poles. The locks on these telescoping poles do not slip...they hold solid whether ascending or descending regardless of terrain. The first set of these trekking poles did 265 miles on the John Muir Trail and 486 miles on the Colorado Trail without any problems. These are not just good looking poles...they've been leaned on. My son has a Durston tent so his trekking poles are also his tent poles...he really can't have a trekking pole failure and hasn't. Now he has a new set of these and he's delighted because he knows these are dependable and loves that they are lightweight. There is a tool that is integrated onto the internal end of the left hand pole's bottom section. That tool allows the locks to be tightened while on the trail should they become loose. These have proven to be comfortable, dependable, and lightweight...we highly recommend these trekking poles.
